Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to a car's exterior. Unlike traditional waxes or sealants, ceramic coatings chemically bond with the car’s factory paint, creating a durable layer of protection. This coating shields the vehicle from environmental hazards like UV rays, bird droppings, acid rain, and road salt. It also provides a glossy, mirror-like finish, making your high-performance sports car look as good as new for longer.

Who doesn’t love cars? I know I love mine more right after it’s been freshly washed or detailed. We rely on services such as detailing to keep our cars, trucks, boats, or other vehicles looking their best. And, most individuals who really care about their vehicle are picky about who they allow to work on it. These people do their homework by researching online and asking others for referrals. Before choosing a detailing service, they want to be confident the work will be performed as advertised by a trustworthy outfit.

Below we will discuss a few factors to consider when trying to identify the best destination for your vehicle’s detailing needs.

a) Location

Proximity can be a factor when selecting a detailing service. If a detailer is located closer to your home or business, it can make dropping-off and picking-up your vehicle quicker and easier. However, convenience should be weighed against the availability of specialized services and quality of work. Most detailers do not install paint protection film and are not certified to install top-tier ceramic coatings.

b) Consider the pricing

As the saying goes, you typically “get what you pay for”. So, when it comes to quality detailing services, price shopping isn’t always the best tactic. Obviously, you want to pay a fair price, but you also want to ensure the shop you choose has the knowledge, experience, and proper equipment to deliver excellent results.

c) Inquire about detailing packages

Most companies will offer various detailing packages to choose from: interior detailing, exterior detailing, etc. Others may offer customized packages based on specific needs and budget. At Exquisite Auto Spa we provide both - from a Complete Detailing Package to a “wheels off” Ceramic Coating Platinum Package with Paint Correction bundle, we have you covered!

d) Check reviews

Do your homework! Google does a decent job of compiling information and ranking relevant businesses in your area. But, if you’re going to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on your vehicle, it’s wise to take a few extra minutes to read reviews on the detailing shops you’re considering. Also, don’t be afraid to ask around - friends and family can be a great resource for first-hand feedback.

e) Brand

How a detailer has branded themselves can say a lot about what to expect from their services. Do they have a website and social media presence; do these appear professional and showcase the quality of their work? Does the detailer have recent photos and positive customer reviews? Is there evidence of their industry experience and of the quality of the facility, equipment, and products they utilize. Lastly, are they upfront and transparent with their pricing? Only a top-notch and established shop will be able to check all of these boxes. Exquisite Auto Spa has branded itself as Wisconsin's Premier Ceramic Installer because they have proudly and consistently delivered on this claim throughout the Milwaukee and Waukesha areas. Come visit us in Elm Grove for all of your vehicle detailing and new car protection needs!

Every surface must be completely dry before applying the ceramic coating. We use premium waffle-weave microfiber towels and compressed air to ensure that moisture is removed from every crevice, body line, and surface. Residual moisture can reduce ceramic coating effectiveness by up to 40%, making this step essential for a flawless application.

After washing, we employ a clay bar treatment to remove embedded impurities that regular washing cannot eliminate. This critical step can remove up to 90% of surface contaminants that would otherwise interfere with the ceramic coating bonding process. The clay bar works by lubricating the surface and gently pulling embedded particles that can create microscopic barriers to proper adhesion.

For vehicles with significant contamination—particularly those that haven’t been professionally detailed in months or years—we may employ additional decontamination methods, such as iron removal treatments that dissolve embedded metallic particles from brake dust and road debris.

Making sure your car is in top shape is essential before you apply a ceramic coating to it. This pre-coating maintenance plays a vital role in the longevity and effectiveness of the ceramic coating. Prior to applying the coating, remember to do the following crucial steps:

  1. 1. Completely Clean and Decontaminate: Start by giving your car a thorough wash with a microfiber wash mitt and a premium automotive shampoo, being sure to get rid of any dirt, grime, or contaminants from the exterior. Use a clay bar or a detailed clay to further remove embedded contaminants and provide a smooth surface for the ceramic coating to adhere to.
  2. 2. Paint Correction: Prior to applying the ceramic coating, paint correction should be done if your car has noticeable swirl marks or other flaws in the paint. This step involves using polishing compounds and specialized tools to restore the clarity and smoothness of the painted surface. A flawless painted finish enhances the overall appearance of your vehicle when protected by a ceramic coating.
  3. 3. Surface Preparation: Once your car is clean and corrected, it is essential to prepare the surface properly for optimum bonding with the ceramic coating. This step may involve using a panel wipe or a dedicated prep solution to remove any remaining oils, waxes, or residue from previous products. This ensures that the ceramic coating can adhere directly to the paintwork for maximum longevity and performance.

Parking in the shade or using a windshield sunshade is acceptable, but it will not protect the upholstery and dash of your vehicle. Window tinting prevents the fading or discoloration of your car's leather, vinyl, and other nice interior surfaces. This keeps the interior of your car looking newer for longer.

They also keep your seats from cracking and warping. They are also in charge of reducing sun glare caused by direct sunlight, which helps to reduce eye fatigue. Driving after dark can be tiresome. Some drivers aggravate the situation by driving with their full headlights on. Tinted windows aid in reducing the brightness of headlights at night.

7.Incorrect Application Technique and Procedure

Failure to strip surfaces prior to coating is a common mistake when applying ceramic coatings. This can lead to a decrease in coating adhesion and durability as well as an increase in the risk of blistering, fish-scaling, or delamination.

Prior to applying a ceramic coating, it is important to properly strip the surface that will be coated. Stripping the surface allows for any dirt, contaminants, and oxidation to be removed from the surface and helps ensure that the coating adheres correctly. The debate between whether stripping surfaces is necessary prior to ceramic coating can be seen as having both sides bringing up valid points.

Chemical stripping may damage the surface due to the aggressive chemicals used during the process, and aggressive processes such as sandblasting can also cause damage. Failure to strip surfaces, on the other hand, can leave dirt, debris, and oxidation on the surface, resulting in decreased coating adhesion, decreased durability, and an increase in blistering or delamination of coatings.

For this reason, most professionals agree that chemical stripping or light abrasive blasting (depending on the severity of contamination) needs to be done prior to applying any type of ceramic coating. Chemical strippers are best used on surfaces with light corrosion or oxidation, while abrasive blasting is best used on more heavily oxidized surfaces.

Although there may be some risk associated with either type of stripping process, it should still be carried out for the best results when applying ceramic coatings. The use of high-quality tools and protective gear can help reduce any potential risks associated with these processes.

It blocks harmful UV light.

When it comes to protecting your vehicle, window tint is an effective way to do so. Not only does it keep prying eyes from seeing inside your car, but it also helps to deter thieves. With window tint, you can rest assured that your personal belongings will be hidden from view and that your car will be less of a target for thieves.

Detailing services

Vehicle detailing is more than simply getting your car washed, it is a thorough cleaning and protection of all interior and exterior surfaces. Having your vehicle detailed regularly not only keeps it looking great, it also ensures the paint and other surfaces remain in their best possible condition.

Exterior detailing

Our exterior detailing process involves a deep cleaning of all external components of your vehicle including the paint, windows, wheels, and trim. Our goal is to restore your vehicle’s appearance as close to (if not better than) showroom-new. At Exquisite Auto Spa, we utilize a system designed to deliver superior cleanliness, gloss, and protection.

This process begins with a multiple-bucket hand wash, utilizing softened water and pH-neutral extreme foam soap. Wheels are thoroughly cleaned utilizing a non-acid, iron-releasing product that removes stubborn brake dust and road grime. During this step we also focus on hard-to-reach areas including wheel wells, door jambs, and the undersides of rocker panels and bumpers.

Once washed, we conduct a chemical and mechanical paint decontamination to remove any damaging particles from your vehicle's paint surface. Your vehicle is then thoroughly rinsed and carefully dried with compressed air and microfiber drying towels to leave a spot-free surface.

The paint surface now receives our single-stage machine polish. While not a “paint correction” this process removes most light damage (swirl marks, minor scratches, and oxidation) and restores gloss and shine. Finally, a paint sealant is applied to help protect your vehicle until your next visit. We also offer ceramic coating options, which provide longer-term protection and increased durability.

 Interior detailing

Interior detailing at Exquisite Auto Spa is more than vacuuming and windows; it involves a thorough cleaning of the entire vehicle cabin. We know that vehicle interiors consist of numerous materials from synthetic carpet, to leather seats, to various plastic and composite components; and we handle each with a distinct chemical and/or technique. Our process involves the following:

First, we thoroughly vacuum the vehicle's carpet, upholstery, and trunk or cargo area. Next we utilize compressed air to remove dust and debris from door pockets, between and under the seats, as well as other hard to reach areas. All hard surfaces are then massaged with an enzyme cleaner to safely remove dirt and grime. The vehicle’s headliner is also spot-cleaned if and where necessary. Next, we use a professional-grade extractor to deep clean the carpet, floor mats, and upholstery. All freshly cleaned leather and hard surfaces are then conditioned with a pH-balanced, water-based formula leaving a non-glossy finish that won't attract dust. If your vehicle has leather surfaces, they are treated to a UV protectant to help reduce damage from the sun. Lastly, the windows, video screens, and other shiny surfaces are cleaned with a lint-free towel.

It’s no wonder that the best car detailing service in the area is Exquisite Auto Spa. Visit us at 12585 Knoll Rd, Elm Grove, WI 53122.

Full-service Car Wash vs. Complete Detail Package.

The majority of our inquiries are from customers interested in a complete (inside and out) vehicle cleaning. So, a common question is: What’s the difference between a “Full-Service Car Wash” and one of our Complete Detailing Packages? Both services claim to clean both the exterior and interior of your vehicle, but there are a few key differences to be aware of.

Full-services car washes tend to be offered by traditional car washes or gas stations with onsite car wash tunnels. They essentially utilize the existing drive-through car wash to clean the exterior, and supplement with attendants to clean portions of the interior. In most cases the extent of the interior cleaning includes: washing the inside windows, a quick interior vacuum, and maybe a quick dusting of the dashboard. Some full-service wash locations may also provide supplemental detailing services like polishing and waxing the car's exterior, carpet shampooing, and steam cleaning interiors. The key differences here are the quality of chemicals/products used as well as the training and experience of the employees. At Exquisite Auto Spa we only utilize the highest quality and safest products on your vehicle.

Additionally, all of our employees have years of experience backed by factory training and certifications, ensuring every job is executed properly and completed flawlessly.

Here is a breakdown of what you can expect from a Complete Detailing Package at Exquisite Auto Spa:

  1. Exterior Cleaning and Machine Polish:  We start by thoroughly cleaning the wheels, wheel wells and other hard to reach places. This is followed by a multiple-bucket hand wash utilizing pH-neutral soap. Next is paint decontamination, to ensure the surface is ready for polishing. A single-stage machine polish is then performed, restoring shine and gloss. From here, all glass and trim is cleaned, with the final step being an application of paint sealant.
  2. Degreasing and Protection of the Engine Compartment:  A vehicle is not completely clean if you don’t address the engine compartment. We apply a mild degreaser and gently scrub all visible surfaces. The area is then thoroughly rinsed and dried with compressed air, ensuring all components are moisture free. Finally, the engine and bay are dressed with a non-oily protectant that repels dirt and provides a “like new” appearance.
  3. Interior Shampooing and Detailing:  First, we thoroughly vacuum the vehicle and utilize compressed air to remove dust and debris from hard to reach areas. All hard surfaces are then cleaned with an enzyme cleaner and the vehicle’s headliner is spot-cleaned where necessary. Next, we shampoo the carpet, floor mats, and upholstery. All freshly cleaned leather and hard surfaces are then conditioned with a pH-balanced, water-based formula; leather surfaces are treated to a UV protectant to help reduce damage from the sun. Lastly, all glass and shiny surfaces are cleaned with a lint-free towel.
